February 2008 Message from GRTC Executive Director, Chip Farmer

As I take over the helm of the GRTC (I have to use a Naval reference, given my predecessor), I’m very excited at the opportunity to increase my involvement with the members of the Council.

I’ve enjoyed meeting with our Board, with our Business Partners and our Sponsors, and I look forward to continuing every one of those conversations. I also look forward to starting new conversations across central Virginia to further spread the message about the value of GRTC.

Thanks for all your support, kind remarks, suggestions, and offers to assist. I’ll be taking you up on those offers, because this is truly a community. I’ll want your input, your aid, and your support as the Council draws up its vision for the future, so please keep those ideas and suggestions coming.

I want to help every member of the GRTC get the most out of their involvement with the Council. Let me know how I, and the GRTC, can be of service to you.

Three years ago the program was designed to allow technology focused high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have attained in their IT related courses, projects and work experiences to a business environment as they pursue technology related fields of study in their college years.  Once again the Council will be partnering with Genworth Financial on this very worthwhile cause, and will welcome a new partner to the program this year - VirginiaFIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).  More
