| Greater Richmond's Companies To Watch | |||

Leading Local Business Organizations partner to develop “Greater Richmond’s Companies to Watch” project. The Venture Forum officially announces today the creation of “Greater Richmond’s Companies to Watch”, a project developed to promote the entrepreneurial environment in the Greater Richmond area by highlighting a select group of highly innovative, local businesses. Partners in the GRCTW project include The Venture Forum, The Greater Richmond Partnership, Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Greater Richmond Technology Council (www.richtech.com), Richmond.com and Work Magazine. Troutman Sanders has signed on as lead sponsor with AirTran sponsoring a reception for the selected companies and other sponsors that target fast growing businesses which are expected to be announced soon. The event will be held at Main Street Station on October 5. The GRCTW project is the only business recognition event that is forward looking as opposed to being historically based. “We are trying to highlight the area’s bright economic future,” says Carl Johnson, president of NBI Advisors, Inc. and RCTW project leader for the Venture Forum. “Richmond has lost local ownership of over 25% of its Top 50 employers from ten years ago. To create new local top employers, we need to foster a business culture that supports innovation and risk-taking, provides access to risk capital and grows and retains local ownership of the best entrepreneurial companies. The RCTW project is a step towards accomplishing these objectives.” Additional information can be found at www.grctw.com | |||
