RICHMOND.COM LAUNCHES BUSINESS
CHANNEL
- R’Biz the New Voice for Central Virginia Business -
Richmond, VA – May 1, 2008 –
Richmond.com, Central Virginia’s most popular
independent web portal, is partnering with veteran
business journalist James A. Bacon to publish its
Business Channel under the name of “R’Biz”.
When R’Biz commenced publication on May 1, it
immediately began scooping other media outlets on
important business news stories. Published daily, Monday
through Friday, R’Biz provides comprehensive coverage in
an easy-to-read blog format. Combining unparalleled
content with Richmond.com’s successful sales and
promotional strategies, the business channel doubled
readership within the first two weeks of publication.
R'Biz will publish news briefs and commentary about the
Richmond-area economy and business scene in a blog
format, updated daily Monday through Friday.
Richmond.com, which is experiencing phenomenal growth in
readership and advertising, will apply the same
successful sales and promotional strategies to the
business channel that it has brought to restaurant, arts
and entertainment, real estate, community focus and
news.
“We’re off to a fast start,” said Bacon, a former
publisher of Virginia Business magazine and current
publisher of the Bacon’s Rebellion blog. “The
www.richmond.com/business URL is the hottest business
address in Richmond today.” and current publisher of the
Bacon’s Rebellion blog on economic development and
public policy in Virginia, brings 30 years of business
journalism experience to the partnership. R'Biz will
scour the Internet for business and economic news with
the goal of providing “one-stop information shopping”
for Richmond’s harried business readers.
Bacon, a long-time member of the Greater Richmond
Technology Council, brings 30 years of business
journalism experience to the partnership. R’Biz scours
the Internet for business and economic news – giving
special attention to technology companies -- with the
goal of providing “one-stop information shopping” for
Richmond’s harried business readers.
“We understand that time is money for Richmond’s
technology executives,” Bacon says. “They don’t have
time to search through a dozen different websites to get
the local business news. They can come to R’Biz knowing
that they’ll get the full picture every day – presented
in a format that adds insight but takes only seconds to
scan and minutes to read.”
Richmond.com continually surveys its readers and
evaluates their interests to keep existing channels
fresh and to introduce new ones when the opportunity
warrants. “It was apparent to us that there was a void
in business coverage in the Richmond region,” said
Richmond.com owner John Whitlock. “In keeping with our
mission as a regional, content-driven website, we view
this partnership as a natural progression from our core
business.”
